“What is true today?” Ask. Listen. Act. Repeat. Every day, take some time to ask yourself what’s making you angry or inspired or itchy or resentful or excited or unhappy or giddy or scared… or some combination of all of these. Get reallllly quiet and listen for your intuition to respond. What are you ignoring or diminishing or hiding or swallowing? What are you distracting myself from? What’s the belief behind that feeling in your solar plexus that whispers that the world is about to end (you know the one I mean).
When I do this practice, if a feeling makes itself known right away, I paint it. Because there’s no better way to validate those feelings than to give them space and form and color and time to be felt and expressed. And if nothing comes, I paint anyway.
The truth works its way out somehow. And once it’s out, there’s no putting it back in, and we can try to find ways to act to make our lives more in alignment with how we want to feel and who we want to be. This painting is a reminder to ask yourself what is true today, trust the intuition that responds, and find a way to express what comes up that feels right to you.
This is a 30x30 inch original acrylic painting on archival quality, spline stretched canvas.
